Moshav Aderet was founded by North African immigrants in the early 1960's. Nine years ago, Phase I of the Moshav expansion was completed, and has since blossomed into a diverse and tolerant religious community of approximately 40 young Israeli and English-speaking religious families.

We are committed to maintaining a balance between community involvement and a respect for individual privacy. Community members are encouraged to contribute in any way they see fit, and all activities are run on a voluntary basis.

Over the years we have developed good relations with the original Moshav members, and a representative from our community sits on the Moshav municipal committee. Together we have created a rich and varied community that enjoys a fine quality of life in the midst of beautiful natural surroundings.

On the Moshav we have:

  • Four synagogues (3 North African nusach and one "Israeli" nusach)
  • Mikveh
  • Grocery
  • Beit Am (Community center)
  • Library
  • Basketball court
  • Two kindergartens
  • Bnei Akiva local chapter
  • Mechina (Pre-Army one-year program)
  • Playgrounds
  • Education

Nursery school: There is a Na'amat ma'on (daycare center) located on neighboring Moshav Roglit (7 minute drive), as well as a private daycare on Kibbutz Netiv ha-Lamed-Heh (5 minute drive).

Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten: Moshav Aderet contains two ganim, Trom-Chova (pre-kindergarten) for children age 3-5, and Gan Chova (kindergarten) for children age 5-6. A private after-school program is available until 4:00 pm.

Primary School: Most children on the Moshav attend one of two primary schools (Gush Etzion National Religious School or Reishit Primary School) located 25 minutes away in Gush Etzion. Some children attend Even ha'Ezer local primary school, or other primary schools in Beit Shemesh.

Intermediate and High School: Each family considers its own needs when choosing an intermediate or high school for their youth. Students from Aderet study at various schools throughout Matei Yehuda, Beit Shemesh, and Gush Etzion, and some travel daily to Jerusalem or attend boarding high schools located throughout the country.

Activities for adults and children: See the activities page.
